I cannot imagine my life without books. My infatuation with books and libraries go as far back as I can remember. As a child I could barely contain my excitement each time we went to the library (especially in the summertime), and can still vividly remember the sound of the sliding doors, the blast of cold air that tickled my face, and the wonderful smell of books, books, books, books. Even now, years later (I won’t bother with the exact number), I still get a sense of that same excitement each time I go to work. And how lucky is that? I’m surrounded by thousands of books–all waiting to be read. And it’s my job to start matching book to patron. Helping students and teachers find their next favorite–that book that leaves them feeling sad, but better off, curious about life or just plain giddy with happiness. Here’s where I’ll talk about the good, the bad, and the baffling. So, here’s to starting…the hardest part of all.

All the way up until I was probably in 5th grade I didn’t like to read! I thought it was boring. But after finding out where you can go with your reading I was instantly in love. Getting into that really good book makes you feel really good that yo picked a great one, so you keep reading. Somethimes reading is still boring but I’ve learned to enjoy it. Books can take you on the adventure of a lifetime. they bring you joy, sadness, tears, and love. Reading is COOL.
